Thanks to all who responded to my request for help.  Mom called her ped. in the a.m., and ped called in an Rx for Denavir.  Mom applied it all day, and then nursed child at night.  Applied it all next day, and  sore really started going away, so mom feels much better about nursing.  Thanks everyone
