I have three children, aged 30, 23 and 20. I don't recall getting a discharge
bag with either of them. I think that whole thing started in the mid-80's
after the US tried to get the WHO code passed....or maybe it was in response
to increased breastfeeding rates and "really smart" (this is sarcasm)
marketing. I remember getting coupons and samples of baby cream and magazines
but REALLY don't remember any "bags". Because I save everything, especially
tote bags.
    Funny story about formula bags. I did have one from a hospital I worked
at, in the mid-90's and gave it to my youngest one day to carry something to
school that needed to stay cool (treats?). I'm pretty sure she was in jr
high. She came home madder than a wet hen and said "I'll never carry that
crummy bag again!" Asked her why and she said her bus driver assumed she had
a baby and said "oh you poor little thing, come sit up front by me so you
don't have so far to walk!"
