He would be the one who is destined to have a big family, right?

I hope you reassured them that once the baby gets better muscle control,
she can get into the "routine" (don't be startled just yet) of nursing
on the dominant hand's nearest breast before meals, so that the baby was
properly positioned for one-handed eating when the food was ready.
I referred in a recent conversation to the sling period. I don't
consider the first few weeks as being part of this, because I sit more
than I am mobile (long nursings, a tendency to doze off which I
respect), and it ends whenever they start looking too longingly at the
floor, but during the eight or nine months it lasted with Naomi I
realized that most of the daytime nursings were on the left breast and
most of the nighttime nursings were on the right breast, because of
holding or sleeping comfortably. Now, at 2.5, I am seeing a definite
association -- she keeps telling me which breast she wants, depending on
whether she needs cuddling or sleep.
Yes, I recognize the importance of two-sided feeds. Sometimes the baby
did get taken out of the sling, and sometimes I did roll over, I just
don't remember them as clearly now.
