I was called to jury duty on several occasions during the course of nursing my 4 children. Each time I simply explained that I had a nursing "infant" (using the term infant loosly - i.e. a 12 month old could be an infant)and was immediately dismissed on those grounds. She should not have difficulty. If she does, she could either be more insistant that this is not an option, or she could contact health care provider and request medical excuse due to the necessity to provide care and nourishment to said breastfeeding "infant." Let me know the outcome.

I have a mom with a 12 mos old who has just been called for Jury Duty. She
explained at the first notice that she is nursing a baby and that it would
be a great hardship at this time to do jury duty. Ie. pump every 2 hours,
mastitis, sick baby ect. Next week she is expected to show for duty. She
is here in Indiana. Any ideas are greatly appreciated ASAP.
