The preliminary weight-gain data is from Scandinavia, where the
data was available first. It is not ready for publication for
two reasons: firstly, it is only available for the first year,
and secondly, it is only appropriate for white babies. For
adequately nourished babies of non-smoking white families,
however, it is an excellent reference.

Incidentally, for those who missed this in Boca Raton, the new
WHO data is prescriptive, and so will only be taken from non-
smoking families where the mothers receive adequate prenatal
care and the children have adequate nutrition.
