from five–star living on a two-star budget: living big on only a little by
margaret feinberg and natalie nichols gillespie (a book with

“inside secrets to saving money”),

chapter 4 ”terrific treats for tots to tweens” talks about how smart
parents:

“save money by using coupons on diapers, formula, and other necessities”

“check around online or ask your doctor’s office about free formula samples,
magazine subscriptions, baby food offers, and more. your obstetrician will
most likely give you a diaper bag filled with freebies for infants,
including….formula samples and other goodies. when you leave the hospital
with your new baby, you should also receive sampler packs…”

“beech-nut, gerber, heinz, and other baby food makers rely on coupons to
keep customer coming back, as do the makers of baby formula like similac,
enfamil, and carnation good start. if you sign up online, at the doctor’s
office, or though the mail for their money-saving offers, you will receive
coupons, samples, and dated money-saving “checks”: (made out to the
retailer, not to you) that operate like coupons.”

hmmm, so artificial feeding is a “necessity.” the authors obviously don’t
know that formula “samples”, coupons, and “freebies” are NOT free. And
wouldn’t you think breastfeeding is frugal, thrifty (as well as normal)…?

just needed to vent as I throw this library book down in disgust (have
suddenly lost my desire to continue reading it).
