Dear Karen,this subject is well covered in many materials both online
and off..and I suggest you check the archives on thrush, but also LLL's
website and www.breastfeedingonline.com, specifically the sections by
Jack Newman MD. The LLL Breastfeeding Answer book has a good section on
this as well. It is ridiculous to suggest to the mother to wean for this
reason, as it is curable with medications and other interventions. This
is an instance of sacrificing breastfeeding on the altar of "ignorance."

Subject: candida and the infant
Have recently seen a mum who has been advised to cease breast feeding
(by a homeopath/naturopath)to prevent the continual reinfection of her
babe with candida. Babe presents with a variety of symptoms that could
be associated with candida, yet mum is symptom free, though has had 5
courses of antibiotics for a persistent strep infection. Does anyone
have info that could help her out
