Hi Jaye,
As I was reading your follow-up post about milk 'going away' and the parent's
reaction by force-feeding this baby. If the baby refuses a bottle/cup,
perhaps this kid is getting just what he needs and has down regulated milk
production to his new requirements? Is the baby sick or teething? Can mom relax
for a week and see what happens? The feeding issue that you see developing is
certainly alarming. What happened to just watching the baby? Is watching
the scale becoming more important?

Last year I translated the book "My Child Won't Eat" for Carlos Gonzalez,
Spanish pediatrician (published through LLLI). It addresses this kind of behavior
in children/parents and it might have some helpful information for the mother
you are working with. Could this be normal for this kid? maybe just a
nursing strike? I can't help but think that in a food fight, the kid is
always going to win.

So many things could be going on, but this might give this parent some hope.
