It's good to hear that people are thinking about designing family
friendly NICUs. Does anyone know of any research done on how much
time new parents actually spend in the NICU wiht their new babies. Are
there NICUs which accomodate "rooming in" for new moms? My experience
as a NICu parent for 2 of my kids in NICUs on two different
continents is that parents need to be encouraged to spend LOTS of time
with their babies and that rooming in with them was not possible. I's
I'd love to hear about other NICUs and their policies as well as
any research on this subject that anyone knows about
Thanks,
