I enjoyed this article a lot. Unfortunately the medical community for the most part is under educated about breastfeeding and related issues. At our WIC office we have 2 IBCLC’s. Our WIC office is overseen by a non-profit community clinic that employs 45 providers (Peds, OB’s, Family Practice, NP’s). Before he left the Chief Medical Officer asked us to do a presentation at one of the quarterly provider meetings to speak about breastfeeding & what an IBCLC was. The newer acting CMO asked us to cut it down to 15-20 minutes, not much of a presentation, but we’ll take what we can get. It seems that most think it’s not important, doesn’t pertain to them, or that it’s not that big of a deal. Our presentation is next week, hopefully it goes well & a few of them might actually learn a thing or two.
