Techbridge Summer Training Institute 2009

Are you interested in developing a program to encourage girls

in technology, engineering and science?

Would you like to gain girl-tested, hands-on curriculum and learn
strategies for success?

Join us at the Techbridge Summer Training Institute in Oakland, CA from August
3-5, 2009! This 3-day workshop will give participants strategies and
curriculum for inspiring girls in technology, science and engineering.

Techbridge has served over 2,500 girls through after-school and summer
programs over the past 9 years, working closely with teachers, parents, role
models and corporate partners. Founded by Chabot Space & Science Center,
Techbridge offer hands-on projects developed for girls and career
exploration activities such as field trips to companies and role modelvisits.
The Summer Training Institute shares our best practices and curriculum while
providing the tools and framework for achieving success to engage girls in
technology and science. Topics will include:

•Mission and underlying philosophy – why we do it and how we accomplish our
mission
•The program model – what works well, what doesn't and lessons learned
•Critical success factors for launching a successful program for girls
•Recruitment and engagement – strategies for recruiting and retaining girls
•Curriculum – training on our hands-on curriculum designed for girls,
including Green Design, Cars & Engines, Toy Design, and Circuitry &
Electronics
•Working with Role Models and Corporate Partners – how to plan a successful
and impactful visit
•Action planning – participants will develop a concrete action plan for
implementation

A registration fee will cover the 3-day Training Institute; participants
will also receive a CD-ROM and binder containing Techbridge's innovative
curriculum. Due to the hands-on nature of the curriculum, we highly
encourage two participants from the same organization to attend the training
together. Register early at
www.techbridgegirls.org/programs_institute.asp Spaces
are limited!
