Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

FYI, I asked my youngest brother, Peter Shanahan, to give a list of his favorite experiences as a science person who had been to Hawaii recently (he and his wife Jen visited me this last winter). He's a physicist at Fermi Labs in the Chicago area, hence his nerd comment.

Hi Mike,

My list might skew a bit nerd, but that might be OK for the
conference? There's something to the order below, but not too
much.

    - A day at the beach at Waikiki, followed by watching the sunset while drinking
tropical drinks and listening to Hawaiian music.
    - The Bishop Museum.
    - Hanauma Bay.
    - The county beach across from your old place in Kailua. (This is Kalama Beach Park, which is contiguous with Kailua Beach park - both get awards for being one of the world's top beaches).

    - Drive up the Pali Highway, stopping at the Pali cliffs.
    - Volcano National Park (Big Island)
    - Stars at the summit of Haleakala (the highest point on Maui). That was 10 years ago, but
I remember it as being much more impressive than the visitors center
      at Mauna Kea.
(these last two rank much higher if traveling off Oahu is an easy option)
    - The Arizona Memorial
    - Jen says "Sea Turtles"
