ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.
*****************************************************************************

We are a fairly small science center located in Northern Colorado. Our
budget is about $600,000/year and we have about 35,000 visitors a year.
I am the executive director, but have only been on board since March 17.

I am trying to determine how other science centers are structured and if
there is a "rule of thumb" as to how many full time employees it takes
to manage a science center like ours. Our current organizational
structure is as follows:

FULL TIME EMPLOYEES:
Executive Director
Development Director
Education Director
Museum Educator
Director of Operations (vacant)

PART TIME EMPLOYEES:
Operation Manager
Floor Manager
Contract Teachers*

The annual salary costs of FTE & PTE is $181,000.
In addition the costs of our contract teachers is an addition $20,000*.

Does this compare favorably with other institutions? I would value any
feedback or advice from this fabulous ASTC resource!

Thank you,
Annette
