ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.
*****************************************************************************

On March 13, an International Polar Year (IPY)-IGLO cosponsored event will
take place - an international internet videoconference involving seven
science centers, NASA, and MAGPI using the Internet2 platform. To support
the theme Our Changing Planet: Past and Present, these science centers are
collaborating with students who will share personal views of climate change.
Two of these local groups of students have even visited the Antarctic! IGLO
is pleased to partner with Techniquest, Cardiff, Wales; the Pavilion of
Knowledge - Ciencia Viva, Lisbon, Portugal; and Universum-UNAM, Mexico City,
Mexico, for this event. We also are excited to work for the first time with
the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago, United States; Monash Science
Centre, Melbourne, Australia; the Science Center of the Bibliotheca
Alexandrina, Alexandria, Egypt; and the Computer Network Information Center
of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and partners, Beijing, China. This
event will take place over two sessions: 12:00 a.m. (midnight) GMT and 1:00
p.m. GMT.

Many of the active partners have gone beyond the videoconference and created
their own supporting programs, but we want to emphasize that you can still
participate by featuring this as a high-profile event at your science
center! The videoconference will combine high-level scientific content,
student testimonials, and discussion. Your visitors can watch what we expect
to be an interesting dialogue and submit questions for the scientists in
advance or during the event to <mailto:[log in to unmask]>
[log in to unmask] Other institutions already have created their
own events that will integrate videoconference - for examples, please look
to the January/February 2008 issues of the IGLO Newsletter (in the Toolkit)
as well as the web site at www.astc.org/iglo.

We are amazed at the potential this event holds for everyone and are
exploring future opportunities in which this experience can be used as a
resource. A new area in the IGLO Toolkit dedicated to this event will
feature all active site resources and presentations. Please visit the IGLO
web site regularly for updates and specific information as well as the IGLO
Newsletter. Send questions or information about your events to
