The Lunar and Planetary Institute invites you to participate in

The Heat from Within ... Earthly Insights into Planetary Volcanism

This NASA-sponsored field-based workshop, held from 9-16 July 2006, is
intended primarily for middle school science teachers (other educators
are welcome).

Participants will spend a week with planetary scientists visiting and
studying different types of volcanos in the Bend and Crater Lake regions
of Oregon. The field experience will focus on volcanic features and
processes on Earth, and will use these as analogs for Mars, the Moon,
Venus, and even the moons of Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune. The
experience will be divided between the field and lab, where participants
will work with classroom-tested, hands-on inquiry based activities and
resources that can be used to enhance Earth and space science teaching
in the classroom. Participants receive lesson plans, supporting
resources, and presentations. A limited number of grants are available
to cover registration.

Join us! Explore volcanos across the solar system with scientists!
Bring the excitement of Earth and planetary science into your classroom!
