A few things to add about the Mac Minis. You can run Keynote and have
looping programs (with images, text and video). Keynote allows you make
pixel perfect presentations--so it is cheap way (with a mini) to HD signage.
You can also run Apple Remote Desktop and connect to these computer
remotely.

The Walker Art Center blog is a great resource for digital signage.

make better use of digital signage.
