I spent the afternoon at the American Museum of Natural History, filled with kids and collections.  I think it is pretty much the paradigm of the science museum that Dawkins is likely to prefer, one of the best of the natural history museums.  Because we got there late and it was crowded, we ended up by going to parts of the museum that haven't been revised much, if at all, for decades.  There is an odd beauty, elegance, and tangibility in the display of old collections.

PS, As Alan mentioned, the exhibition that Edward Rothstein liked best when he reviewed NYSCI's expansion was Mathematica: A World of Numbers by Charles and Ray Eames.
