I recommend you talk with the people at solar one, an energy sustainability group in nyc that has an awesome curriculum in which the school itself becomes the subject of a design exercise in improving energy efficiciency.  they recently got an ITEST grant to do some deep evaluation of the project. the woman who runs the program is great.  I don't think they usually go to astc, but it couldn't hurt to ask them. contact me offlist and i will give you their contact info.
