Museums & Social Issues
Call for Papers Vol. 5(1)
REFRAMING PARENT INVOLVEMENT

This volume of Museums and Social Issues will explore the role that museums and other community based organizations play in connecting parents and schools in support of children’s development. Priority will be given to articles that broadly discuss, synthesize, challenge and analyze the subject and provide conceptual and practical ideas. We encourage submissions by authors from any discipline inside and outside the museum field, especially case studies that compare and contract institutions. Articles are particularly encouraged that address questions such as:

· What are the access points for empowering parents as facilitators of their children’s learning?
· How can museums and other community organizations best facilitate parent involvement in children’s development?
· How do parents use museums as resources for maintaining or extending their involvement in their children’s learning?
· What are the major issues/obstacles that museums must address if they seek to influence the larger parent involvement infrastructure within a community/society?

Museums & Social Issues is a peer-reviewed journal published by Left Coast Press, Inc. The journal provides a forum for discourse about social issues and the engagement of museums in those issues. Each issue includes theoretical, philosophical, and practical perspectives.
