As a variation on the showing how tough eggs are demos, c/o Borislaw
Bilash...

1) Put 4 eggs in mini-holders ie the section from the cardboard crate you
buy 'em in. Stand the eggs upright and arrange in a square.

2) Pile several books on top - make em hardbacks.

3) This alone is ok to show the strength of the eggs, but then, place a
board on top of the books, then a seciond board that has a nail in it
(just a little ways - like you're starting it out). Then, hammer the nail
until the two boards are stuck together.

This demo isn't just about the eggs, it also demonstrates inertia. The
hammer-blow doesn't exert enough force to move the pile of books down
enough to break the eggs. Some tips:

Practice this one. You can place plastic grocery bags under the eggs to
make clean-up easier if you do screw up. Use pine or some other soft
wood. A nail with a large head helps, cause it's real embarassing if you
miss with the hammer.  :)
