Next on the NSDL/NSTA Web Seminar Series: Flower Bulb Science:
Activities for the Hands-on Classroom

Please join us Thursday, February 7th, 6:30-8:30 pm Eastern, for a free
online seminar with our experts from the Cornell University Department
of Horticulture: Marcia Eames-Sheavly of the Garden-Based Learning
Program and Craig Cramer Communications Specialist, with special guest
and site developer Elly Cramer from the National Science Digital Library.

There’s nothing like a pot of tulips in the middle of winter to inspire
young scientists. This new website from the Cornell University
Department of Horticulture will help you find ways to use flower bulbs
to teach science, art, history and other subjects for students of all
ages. Help your students learn how to ‘force’ bulbs out of season,
experiment with ways of controlling how tall the plants grow, create a
digital collage or spell out hidden messages on your lawn. This
interactive website (http://www.thebulbproject.com) also helps you share
ideas for new activities and adaptations, and learn from the experiences
of others. For educators of grades K-12. Great for afterschool programs!

Registration is free through the NSTA Learning Center:
http://learningcenter.nsta.org/products/symposia_seminars/NSDL2/webseminar8.aspx

Be sure to register for these upcoming programs in the National Science
Digital Library Series:

March 11th: Under the Microscope: Using Images to Enhance Inquiry--The
Exploratorium
April 1st: It's Alive: Using Online Life Science Resources for the
Middle School Classroom
May 27th: Beyond Penguins and Polar Bears: Integrating Science and
Literacy for the K-5 Classroom
June 12th: Enlightening Experiences with Energy
