Global Engineering Marathon 2009:

Connecting women to engineer a better future; because dreams need doing

 Engineering Week presents:

24-hour Global Marathon for women in engineering

Noon (U.S. EDT)
March 11th-12th, 2009

Global Marathon 2009 is a unique, live 24-hour program of webcasts,
Internet chats and teleconferences especially for current and future
generations of women in engineering. During these 24-hours, you can call
in to live chat sessions, watch videos, log on to webinars and learn
more about engineering from women and students worldwide.

Six regional marathon centers have been created in various parts of the
world to take ownership of the marathon to that area. Programming will
follow the sun and business day throughout the world so that the
marathon is miles as well as time-based. Through presentation, phone
conversations and "new media", presenters will motivate girls and women
to develop an interest in technology/engineering careers by:

* Sharing personal career stories to inspire working women and
spark the interest of young girls in sciences, technology, engineering
and mathematics (STEAM).

* Providing various career choices in engineering and technology
companies.

* Introducing careers in technology and engineering as exciting,
rewarding, and fun!

* Offering an opportunity for women and girls to make
connections with one another.

* Presenting resources available to help enter and/or advance
careers in technology fields.

Beginning at Noon (U.S., EDT) on Wednesday, March 11th, listen or join
the discussions in the U.S., U.K., Mexico, Africa, India, the Middle
East, and China as the Marathon follows the business day around the
globe.

The next great challenges are just around the bend. Will you be there to
make a difference?
