ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers

An excellent earth measurement activity is described here:
http://epod.usra.edu/archive/epodviewer.php3?oid=61280 replicating
Eratosthenes's 240 BCE calculation of the diameter of Earth. Links
on that page to "mass experiments" at the two equinoxes. I used this
activity to begin a high school physics class and discovered that my
students were quite wobbly about basic geometry.

I doubt that the diameter of Earth changes with climate change, but
you might find satellite photos of the Nile delta over a number of
years to compare. Best from Jane

Science Outside the Box is a tiny business that celebrates the
scientist in every one of us. I am a writer and teacher, and I have
fun with science every single day. I'm especially fond of designing
classes and science magic shows for kids and parents.

"To be an inventor, you need a good imagination and a big pile of
junk." Edison
