ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

For those who missed the recent notice in ASTC INFORMS, here is a heads-up
about a new resource for the field.

Charlie Trautmann, executive director of the Sciencenter, Ithaca, New York,
recently spent three months on sabbatical in Europe, visiting 34 science
centers, museums, and related organizations in 10 countries. Based on his
experiences, he has written a monograph, "A Change in the Weather," on how
informal learning organizations in Europe are communicating with their
audiences about sustainability and global warming. Included is the "Museum
Sustainability Index" (MSI), a self-assessment tool that can help
institutions promote dialogue on sustainability. To download the monograph
(2.8 MB), visit www.sciencenter.org/monograph.

Charlie's blog of his European museum tour can be found at
http://ctrautmann.blogspot.com <http://ctrautmann.blogspot.com/> . His
article on the development of the MSI and its suggested uses will appear in
the upcoming May/June issue of ASTC Dimensions on mission-based evaluation.
