Try any of the name-brand hotels at Newark Airport. All of the big hotels
there have shuttle bus service to the terminals, and from the terminals you
can take a train into Manhattan. Or you could rent a car, but driving into
the city -- especially for a tourist -- is a bad idea.

I plan to visit NYC, and particularly the AMNH, around May 10-14. I see
hotel prices around the museum are formidable for one person. Is there
some outlying location where I can easily get in and out of midtown that
might provide more economical prices? I don't mind seeing the suburbs at
all.
