ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

This major session illustrating ASTC's new strategic direction will take place at conference on Saturday 10/31 at 12:30PM in room 201AB of the Convention Center in Fort Worth.

Although a full description is in both the printed and the on-line program, the impressive line-up of speakers mentioned there is incorrect. Here is the correct panel of speakers:

Session leader Walter Staveloz. Director International Relations. ASTC, Washington DC.

Speakers:
Lesley Lewis (ASTC president and CEO Ontario Science Center, Toronto, Canada) will provide context for the Toronto Declaration, including why it developed, how it was crafted, and some of the content. She will also discuss the evolution of ASTC's new strategic priorities, specifically the emergence of Science& Society in May 2008 as a major theme in ASTC's work.

Prof. Kathy Sykes (Professor of Science & Society, University of Bristol) will speak about what is going on in Europe, where this topic has been addressed for a while now and is already a core element of EU education strategies.

Elisabeth Hoyos (CEO, Maloka, Bogota, Colombia) will share how Maloka has become the center of a large effort to establish social responsibility for science centers in Latin America. She will also provide her perspective on the Toronto Declaration.

Emlyn Koster (CEO, Liberty Science Center, Jersey City, New Jersey) is a member of the ASTC Science & Society Working Group that recently finalized a white paper on the subject. The white paper is now up for ASTC Board discussion, and Emlyn will comment on the three priorities for action that the Board will recommend.

Please spread the word - much of ASTC's future will be revealed here!
