Hi Folks, 

Berkeleyearth.org has compiled the most detailed and accurate temperature map of the land surface of the earth over the past 200 plus years, and you can watch it at the link above.

A couple of things:
you can watch the data collection area grow to encompass the world 
the temperature variations reflect local anomalies, not absolute and they are profound

There lots of noise in recording temperature variations.  They other thing that emerges is that they more absolutely and unequivocally confirm a temperature rise in the earth's temperature over time by direct measurement not proxies.

They also show a strong relationship between the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO) and land temperatures variations.  This may be a new discovery.  The AMO refers to global thermo-haline ocean circulation (or global conveyor belt).

Conclusions from their study: the temperature hockey stick, is real and caused by humans (based upon real data and not proxies).

As a coda:  the population of the developing world can continue to in their average consumption annual increase of 10% until something like 2050 before they approximate 1/2 of the annual GDP/person of the developed world.  This means no matter what we do in the United States, Europe, or elsewhere that's already developed will likely impact the project increase in carbon dioxide additions to the earth's atmosphere.  We are a mere drop in the future global bucket.

We need to develop some real solutions.
