Introducing The Equity Academy from the Girls, Math & Science
Partnership!!!

The Equity Academy is a set of interactive online seminars offered by
the Girls, Math & Science Partnership especially for STEM educational
professionals. These webinars offer an opportunity to learn about the
latest research on gender and STEM, explore curriculum for engaging
girls in the classroom, unlock the key to mentorship, find teaching
resources, adopt evidence-based teaching practices, and much more.

Join us on February 25 from 3-5pm EST for our upcoming webinar titled
Can*TEEN: Helping girls see themselves in science careers.

Can*TEEN is a career exploration toolkit for teen girls that connects
them to science in a way that captures their imagination and cultivates
their long-term interest in science as a profession. Can*TEEN puts girls
in touch with resources, mentors, curriculum, and each other as a way to
inspire girls' choices of seeing science as their way to make a
difference in the world. Girls navigate each STEM discipline with the
help of virtual hosts -- avatars, based in part on Howard Gardner's
theory of multiple intelligences, each with unique personalities and
interests and with whom girls can identify on a personal level. The kit
includes CDs for each STEM discipline that are loaded with profiles of
female role models, cool activities, information on class selection and
scholarships, and online resources. Can*TEEN is also full of classroom
tools for teens, like a ruler-calculator, a periodic table of elements,
and more.

This webinar will explore the process of developing this kit, its
intended use, and goals. We will also discuss ways that you can use this
kit with girls in your programs.

Cost:

$75 per registrant. This price includes participation in webinar and
additional materials (including a CanTEEN toolkit).

Registration:

Because space is limited to 24 participants per session, advanced
registration is required.
