ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

We recently created a video mobile tour that can be downloaded to an
iPod or other mobile device. We don't rent any of these devices out,
nor do we have stations for people to use download their own content
when they arrive. We promote the tour on our visit planning sites and
to tour and school groups before they visit. During testing we did use
the iPod touch. This device was popular but some older users did have
trouble figuring out the buttons.

helpful resource for you

We worked with a production company, Untravel Media. They helped us do a
lot of research on devices and distribution.

We also temporarily used a call-in option through a company called Guide
by Cell, but since our tour was designed as a video the audio-only
really didn't work well for us. http://www.guidebycell.com/

Also, I believe the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston uses iPods
that people can check out.

tours.

Good luck!
