We did a 'science of sound' stage show a couple years back. For a visibly vibrating string w sound we made a simple bass bucket using a 1/8" rope, wood broom handle, and plastic 5 gallon bucket and/or metal bucket. It worked really well.

I don't have a suggestion for you, but I just have to say this is the sort of message that just makes me smile. how many of your friends have to deal with this sort of puzzle at their jobs? I count us lucky.

good luck in your quest for noisy non-latex flexible tubing!

All,

We are modifying our Sound Assembly. One demo connecting vibration and sound uses a 6' piece of latex tubing. The presenter holds one end under their foot and stretches it. When plucked the latex made a satisfying sound loud enough sound for the 150 kids to hear.

Now many schools don't allow latex in their buildings . We need to replace the latex with another material that will give a satisfying sound.

We have some purple tubing from a medical supply that does not make enough sound. No one remembers what it is .

Does anyone have suggestions on what kind of tubing would provide a sound louder than a deep thrum?

It has to roll up and stuff in a tub for transport.

Thanks for any suggestions.
