A look at the CZ Ferro video seems to confirm I picked up the right ferrofluid bottle (Ferrosound Ferrofluidics (603) 883-9800).  The Exploratorium used it for an exhibit (I think it was featured in the APE book).  If memory serves the people at the ferrofluid company were really nice (but they probably won't tell you what liquid the ferrofluid can be suspended in - it's isopropyl and water go too far off the right percent (around 50) and the ferrofluid falls out of solution).  Also I made the mistake of siliconing borosilicate glass together - it didn't work  - apparently the silicone messed with the chemistry - so look at the ape book, or get an old pickle jar (yes), or buy borosilicate glass containers that are pre-made, or use CZ Ferro.
