While in the UK I had a travelling exhibition visit from the @Bristol Science centre. This was primarily computer based exhibits that were all networked via a central console and each exhibit also had a 'standby saver' remote control switch. The exhibits were scheduled to switch on/shut down at specified times with the central console accessible to override for out of hours events.
In theory a nice idea as it would safely shut the PC's down. Unfortunately on regular occasions you could find a number of exhibits had not woken and then there was always a frantic run around the manually switch on prior to opening.
Although it would be nice to have that central switch or auto boot I always like to ensure all are working and safe via the old fashion human touch!
