Sorry if this is a double posting--a computer glitch is making me extra
cautious:

Science centers involved in the IGLO project, or otherwise planning to put
together exhibits/programs on climate change, might want to consider
including the voices of native peoples, as many of them are experiencing the
effects of global warming first hand, and a number are also doing something
about it.

In early December 2006, representatives from 55 North Amer. tribes around
the country gathered in Somerton, Arizona in the first-ever Native American
climate change conference , co-sponsored by the National Wildlife
Federation. Participants talked about how they are being impacted by global
warming, as well as the steps they are taking to reduce global warming
pollution and simultaneously foster economic development, natural resource
sustainability and cultural preservation. There was also much discussion
about partnering with non-Native organizations/groups to foster
cross-cultural education on global warming issues.
