NSDL Webinar: Life in the Polar Extremes
Date: April 7, 2009
Time: 6:30pm-7:45pm Eastern
Audience: K-8 Educators interested in ways to integrate science and
literacy in their teaching
At first glance, the polar regions may seem barren and lifeless. Yet
there are surprisingly rich terrestrial and marine food webs that can be
used to illustrate ecological concepts, relationships, and changes.
In this webinar, we’ll discuss the Arctic and Antarctic ecosystems and
their response to climate change. We’ll explore common ecological
misconceptions and exemplary science and literacy instructional
resources from the Beyond Penguins and Polar Bears cyberzine.
