ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Toilet paper tubes and scissors are a hit, since scissors can be used to
modify how the TP tubes work in a tube. Straws are fun, too, since they can
also be modified, but they often slip down into the fan. Tiny styrofoam
balls are neat, but a bit messy and not very sustainable.

Our littlest ones love using cut-out photos of native butterflies that we
copied onto transparency paper. The older kids add tiny clothes pins (I
found them at an office supply store) to the butterfly wings to see if they
can change how fast/slow the butterfly moves in the tube. Participants love
watching the bunch of butterflies fluttering around in the tube.

Best,
