The Center for Advancement of Informal Science Education (CAISE) has just released a report by the CAISE Public Engagement with Science Inquiry Group. Members of the group, led by Larry Bell of the Museum of Science, Boston, and Tiffany Lohwater of AAAS, will be using the report as a springboard for discussion next week, March 23-27, in ASTC Connect. We welcome you to join in. Discussion will take place in the "Working with Scientists and Engineers" area of ASTC Connect. If you're not already a participant, set up an account at connect.astc.org and contact Margaret Glass at [log in to unmask] for access to this "course."

To read the report in full (warning: it's 3 MB), go to <http://caise.insci.org/uploads/docs/public_engagement_with_science.pdf> http://caise.insci.org/uploads/docs/public_engagement_with_science.pdf
For a short summary, go to http://caise.insci.org/uploads/docs/public_engagement_with_science_summary.pdf

As Larry notes, the report "talks about activities in informal science education in which there is two-way communication between science experts and science non-experts, and mutual learning among all." We're looking forward to the discussion.

Wendy
