ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Our name tags for staff at all levels are displayed using simple, 
conference-style "necklace" plastic holders with elastic.
This year our visitor services staff started playing with recognition of 
volunteer milestones (first time you train someone else, work a scout 
night, etc.) by giving a specifically colored pony bead for that 
milestone to be worn on the nametag.
Clearly, this is just a fun, internal motivating system, not for the 
benefit of visitors seeing who's-trained-on-what, but when they do ask 
"what are those for?" it can lead to a nice interaction.
