ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Technopolis, the Flemish Science center exists since 12 years. We are currently expanding: our exhibition area will become larger and we will add space for labs and workshops. A few months ago we officially communicated our expansion plans to the press with a big "first stone " event: we got a lot of press around it so we were very happy.
But now we see that in the last months our visitor numbers are decreasing, not dramatically but noticeable.
One of the possible explanations we came up with is that people are postponing their visit until the expansion opens (which is next spring) .

Has anyone experience with or heard of this kind of effect previously?

kind regards

Patricia
