Hello Reyes:

First of all, our condolences from New York City to Madrid. I hope your
city heals from its tragedy.

There is a very good activity that we've been planning to do, but
haven't yet tried, about how light can carry information.

Take a cardboard box like a shoe box, cut a hole in both ends, and cover
one end with reflective mylar. Reflecting a light off the mylar side
into a photosensor, you can modulate the light beam by talking or
singing into the open end of the shoe box.

From what I have heard from people who have tried this, it is a very
good demonstration of how you modulate a signal to carry information,
and very popular with visitors.

I have heard about others doing this activity, and the details may be
available somewhere. If you would like more information, I can try to
find it for you. We will be prototyping it here soon.
