ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Years ago the Bay Area Children's Museum in San Francisco had a great big sign that kind of did that.  It was one of the best one I'd ever read.  Not sure if it's still there, but you might check with them.  I think it had their mission and some general expectations.

Here at our small museum we are just upstairs from a Starbucks so we've had to be the "bad guy" in telling visitors no food or drink...whenever I have to state a rule, my rule is to do it in a positive way.  So instead of "no food or drink" our sign says "Please enjoy your food or drink prior to entering the museum".  Instead of "Don't run" we always say, "Walk Please"...tends to work well.
