Dear colleagues,

The Informal Science Education Committee of the National Science
Teachers Association (NSTA) will hold an Informal Science
Share-a-thon at the Portand, Oregon Western Regional Conference.

When: Friday, November 21, 2008 from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
Where: Oregon Ballroom 201, Oregon Convention Center

All organizations that are involved with out-of-school science
learning are invited to participate and present at this event. This
includes science museums, media, after-school programs, zoos,
aquaria, environmental centers, electronic media, and other groups
that focus on science learning from what is considered an "informal
science" perspective.

NSTA rules require that all presenters must register for either the
whole conference, or at least for the day of the presentation.
Information concerning the conference and registration is available
at: http://www.nsta.org/conferences/2008por/?lid=tnav. Early bird
registration rates end Oct. 10, and advanced registration ends Oct.
24.

If you plan to attend NSTA Portland, and are eligible and interested
in presenting at the Portland Informal Share-a-thon, please contact:
Elsa Bailey <[log in to unmask]>.
In your email, please send Elsa the lead presenter's full name,
email, telephone, and mailing address, along with a short paragraph
(100 words maximum) that:
1. Describes your organization
2. Identifies the key components of what you plan to share at your table

Each group accepted to present will be assigned a table in a large
room located in the Convention Center. Attendees will browse among
those groups during the session. This is a great opportunity to
connect your organization with classroom teachers and share with them
the resources you provide. It is also an excellent opportunity to
meet and network with other informal science educators. Tables will
be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be
little or very limited access to electrical plugs, so please plan
your presentation accordingly. Presenters will be responsible for
bringing all presentation materials to the session location. We
regret that we can't accept materials ahead of the time of the
session.

We look forward toward having you participate in the Portland, Oregon
NSTA Informal Share-a-thon! Please apply to present by October 22,
2008. Confirmation for participation and additional details for
presenters will be sent out after October. 25, 2008.
