The name of the developer / designer / curator / writer / fabricator / vendor / etc. may not be available, either in the exhibit or in the museum's records (especially for an older exhibit).

Similarly, the date the exhibit opened is often not displayed, and can be difficult to retrieve.  (I know -- I used to do the retrieving for a major natural history museum.)

I would probably say "visited" rather than "retrieved."
