Thank you so much for posting these links and for your response.  It remains a bit of chicken and egg question.  No questions about the correlation.  It's hard to know, whether increasing wealth is driven by education or vice versa, perhaps not that important, except if one is arguing for the essentialness of education? ( It's a perfectly worthy argument in my book.)

It's clear that the 20th century has seen the lives of people all around the world generally improve, and that knowledge and education are sine qua non with the transition.  There may even be a correlation with hands-on museums, which generally mirror societies.

The question which remains un-resolved is the unexpected deterioration of PISA scores in upper SES groups.  This seems somewhat inexplicable to me.  Perhaps you have some thoughts about this?
