Hi Mike,

Living currently in a semi-rural area of Europe, I notice the locals
prefer to try homeopathic remedies first and save the "stronger" stuff
for later or emergencies. So much so that at my local pharmacy I must
specific when I want medicinal rather than herbal cough syrup. This
comes from a strong(er) trust in nature by the locals. This is tied to
the connection with farming, but also with the lack of medicine after
WWII.

The mother of a friend who grew up in the Black Forest of Germany
worked as a "local pharmacist" directly after the war. There was very
poor infrastructure and little access to prepared drugs. Local women who
knew how to use the native plants and home remedies were called upon to
help supplement the pharmacies' sad stocks, and they stayed.

I've always wanted to sit down and talk with one of those women, who
are affectionately called "Käuterhexe" or "Herb-Witch".

Hey Everybody,

If you went into a museum about the history and practice of pharmacy
what
would you expect to see and what would you want to see? What would you
want
to do. Samples will not be provided, sorry.

 Thanks,

Mike
