Colleagues,

I am working on a grant funded project for the Durango Discovery
Museum in Durango, Colorado. The grant calls for a sun scope as well
as a telescope with NTSC video output. I am a novice regarding sun
scopes and telescopes.

The unit(s) will be included with a media cart (with large flat screen
monitor) traveling with the Solar Roller, a trailer taken to community
and school events. It is expected that the Solar Roller will be
deployed almost exclusively during the daytime ? so the telescope use
may be minimal. As the Solar Roller includes a demonstration solar
power system, real-time attention to the science of the sun is a high
priority. Safety is of course always the highest priority so I don't
think that a telescope with sun filter would be safe enough to use.

Have any of you had experience with equipment for sun viewing?

I am considering the Coronado PST - Personal Solar Telescope combined
with a Astrovid CCD Video - Color PlanetCam securely attached to the
eyepiece.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Joe Lounge
