If you've found a speaker with a great topic, but she or he has not done 
speaking for a general audience, you can direct them to an AAAS webinar, 
"Developing Your Message: A Guide for Scientists".  It is pretty 
specific about tailoring a talk to a general audience, but also gives 
guidelines useful for anyone who has to communicate with the public.
