I've read these replies with interest, and thought I'd chime in with our
experience here at Melbourne Planetarium at Scienceworks Museum in
Victoria, Australia.

We run a program on Thursday nights in Summer called Cruise the
Constellations. Guests cruise down the Yarra River on a ferry from the
city centre to Scienceworks, which takes about half-an-hour, with
champagne served. Then they head into the Planetarium, watch a
documentary-style show (currently "Guiding Lights," which focuses on
celestial navigation, specifically Capt Cook and his Polynesian
navigator, Tupaia) followed by Whats In The Sky Tonight. Then, if it's
a clear night, we have a couple of telescopes set up outside on our
Arena, and lots of enthusiastic volunteers pointing stuff out. Guests
also get a Planisphere to take home, and on the return ferry ride, the
Planetarium presenter is on board, pointing out stars/planets as they
cruise along.

It has been very popular with young couples, and we have run a special
Valentines session for the past few years on or around Feb 14th!

We are always looking to attract this demographic (childless 21-30yos),
although they do have very high expectations (and I speak from
experience - I am one!)
