ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Discovery Gateway, a premiere family destination located in Salt Lake
City, is looking for a full-time Exhibit Developer to provide the
conceptualization and content development for new Discovery Gateway
exhibits. The successful candidate will perform and manage exhibit
research and development of exhibit themes, topic areas and specific
story lines, and participate in other areas of the exhibit design
process. Exhibit development includes visitor studies, exhibit
evaluation, writing and editing.  Exhibits must present the specific
topic and reinforce the mission of Discovery Gateway: "To inspire
children of all ages to imagine, discover, and connect with their world
to make a difference."

We are looking for candidates who meet these qualifications:

BA/BS degree required. Experience or education in a field related to
informal teaching and learning preferred. Possess varied interests,
spanning science, technology, arts and the humanities.

2-4 years experience in exhibit development, evaluation or research and
demonstrated experience in developing content-rich, engaging
experiences. 

Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work
independently, under general guidelines, and in a group setting. Ability
to collaborate with non-specialists. 

Strong self-motivation and goal orientation.  

Strong skills in conceptual design, research, writing, content
development, prototyping, fabrication and project management. 

Direct experience with at least one of the following: wood, plastic and
metal construction, electronic and mechanical design, and building
exhibits. Proven skills in multimedia development and design are a plus.


Proficiency with office computers and software tools, including MS Word
and Excel.  Draft and drawing skills and competency with design software
desirable. 

Project management experience highly desirable.
