All,

I am curious as to what kind of demonstration spaces and exhibit floor lab areas other science center have. We have two dedicated spaces. One is a Wetlab in our River of Life Gallery and the other is called the Imagination Zone in our Invention Dimension for the creative side of science. Each seats 8 - 10 and is staffed though most of the day. We provide activities and demos at these spaces. I am looking to establish 2 - 3 more areas to our galleries - a Health Lab, Space Lab and Physics Lab. Each would go in our current exhibit galleries and would have to be open spaces i.e. we can't close them off. I am wondering how other science centers utilize and structure spaces such as these. They seem to act like classrooms as well as stages. Specifically, I am curious about:

1. How many do you have?

2. Are they themed spaces or more general?

3. What kind of lab/science/other equipment do you have in these spaces?

4. Where are they within your science center?

5. What kind of A/V support do you have?

6. How many do you seat?

7. How are they staffed?

8. How much storage do you have?

9. Do they work well?

Also, I know it might be a bit much to ask, but I would love to see images of these spaces. It would really help me design our new spaces. Please feel free to contact me off the list. And, as always, thanks...Jason
