Canadian Association of Science Centres
7th Annual Conference
Hosted by: [ http://www.sasksciencecentre.com ]Saskatchewan Science Centre
Regina, SK, June 4-6, 2009

Inspired Minds!
As we reach the end of the first decade of the twenty-first century, we
are witnessing exciting new innovations in science and technology. Our
children are being challenged with advanced concepts, and what was once
science fiction has now become reality. As science centres and science
educators, we are perfectly placed to engage people in this explosion of
knowledge and information: we can make it fun, educate the diverse
Canadian public and use it as a conduit to inspire the minds of today for
the future! We invite you join us at the 2009 Canadian Association of
Science Centres’ Conference to inspire your own mind and ignite
inspiration in others.

Inspiring Science Education
How do we inspire scientific inquiry and teach science literacy? What are
the newest theories on science learning and how do we implement them? How
do we connect to schools, students and teachers? Share with us your
approaches to learning with particular emphasis on how programs were
developed and implemented.

Inspiring Organizational Development
Recruiting, retaining and inspiring staff is a challenge faced by most
employers today. Does your organization have a winning strategy for
creating a dynamic, engaging workplace? The program committee is
especially interested in sessions that address good governance, staff
training, team development and maintaining morale.

Inspiring Science Literacy Across Cultures
Today’s society is a rich blend of cultures, histories and values. As
science centres, how can we play a role in addressing science literacy in
the context of these diverse viewpoints and backgrounds? How do we present
science in a manner that engages all our visitors? Share with us your
approaches to multiculturalism and inclusive science programs.

Inspiring Growth
Moving forward often requires the right combination of funding and public
interest. How can we best build relationships with stakeholders and get
the word out about our programs? The program committee is especially
interested in sessions that address fundraising issues unique to science
centres, innovative approaches to fundraising, and marketing strategies.

Inspiring Innovation
Do you have innovative new science happening on your doorstep? Have you
come up with a great new way of encouraging creative and innovative
thinking about science? Tell us about science and innovation happening in
science centres and museums, universities and public and private
laboratories, and how you’re getting the word out to your visitors.

Inspiration
Do you have a presentation idea that just does not fit one of our
categories? We want to hear from you! Come out and inspire others.
